Restoration of the parapet wall
Restoration of the protective stone parapet wall built during the reign of King Kirti Sri Rajasinha (1748 – 1782) by Ilupandeniye Atta Dassi Nayaka Thero. This wall was constructed around the sacred Bodhi tree to protect it from wild elephants which might have damaged the bodhi tree and eating its tender leaves.
The wall has a height of 3 M, Length of 376 M and the width of 2.2 M.
The restoration work was done by under the patronage & guidance of Atamasthanadhipathi Pallegama Sirinivasa Nayaka Thero. The Central Cultural Fund also helped in the restoration work.
